I thought I'd have a play with another pic I snapped at the other day. The artefact was behind glass and I'm ok with the original photo but wanted to play around with the focal b&w, soft focus and glow functions (aiming to make the background softer and to draw attention to the hippo). I even had a play with the blemish tool (it took me a little while to get the hang of it) but I think I managed to remove the mark near its neck ok. I wasn't confident enough to do the one over its snout - I was having too much trouble matching the line markings.

Tiff I know you're away so I'm going to upload the edited pic in the gallery, but I'll love your thoughts/feedback when you've got a chance :-)

Christine. I'm so glad you perserved with the clone too. You've done really well with it babe. The cropping works to be rid of the bottom cupboard, the soft focus certainly drops the background out. I really think you've learnt a bunch from this. I'm impressed. Well done.

Tiff :D

Thanks Tiff - I wasn't sure about the radius of the soft focus tool - it was really hard to get the whole hippo clear with just the background soft, so I thought I'd focus on the front half of him instead. I've had a tonne of fun playing around and it's been just enough to satisfy my creative side while I'm on holidays :-)

Really greatful for the extension that Lee-Anne gave us all - I was messing around and finally found the collage tool in Picasa. These came from the same photo as the Sepia one, but I played with Tints then made a collage. I set a new custom aspect ratio (4 x 6 - I got this from the Harvey Norman website as a standard photo size?) - no idea how it'g going to print but I'm looking forward to finding out :-)

Hi Tiff, here's mine ... I used a free program called Photoscape. The original image was resized so it wasn't too big for the forum then I cropped the image to make Rachy more of the focus, deepened & sharpened it slightly, then played with the frame feature. I hope you like it!

vicki.

Well done...... lost all that empty space and the pic has so much more impact now.

But keep in mind, when you crop an image, think of your final print size (ie 5x7) and crop it to that proportion. Otherwise you'll lose some of that fabo border or clip some of the image.

Love it.

So how's those creative juices going with your 'Photo edited shots' from the Picasa tutorial coming along for the 'shoot it, scrap it' challenge??

I have an idea of what to do Tiff but I won't get it done until during the week :-)
